No. Monitoring and Beezy support your decisions between visits and in the field. Regular hands-on inspections remain essential.
No. SmartBeePro already includes GPS location and movement alerts, alongside temperature and humidity monitoring. SmartBeeGPS is the dedicated tracking option for hives that do not need those measurements. You do not need both devices on the same hive for these functions.
Not necessarily. You can place SmartBeePro in representative hives and choose GPS coverage according to your apiary layout and theft risk. A commercial deployment may use one Pro for 5–20 hives and one GPS tracker for 3–5 hives; these are planning examples, not a rule. Each device measures or tracks only the hive carrying it. A tracker can follow a group only while the hives stay together; fit each hive if you need individual tracking.
Our product guidance reports no known adverse effect on bees and describes brief, non-intrusive transmissions. In normal operation, SmartBeePro collects four readings throughout the day and sends them together once daily, rather than transmitting continuously. Anti-theft mode transmits more frequently. Follow the installation instructions for your device and hive.
No Wi-Fi or local gateway is required. The devices use their own SIM and a compatible cellular network. Coverage at your apiary is still necessary: our team will confirm network compatibility for your location before you order.
SmartBeePro lasts 6 months in normal operation, or up to 9 months with reduced reporting. Its built-in 5,000 mAh Li-ion battery charges by USB with a 2 A charger; a USB cable is included. SmartBeeGPS offers 1 year of standby autonomy and is also USB-rechargeable. Runtime depends on reporting frequency. Active tracking reduces runtime; external sensors also reduce SmartBeePro autonomy.
